Rajah & Tann-Cambridge UK Moot Reception

This is a joint reception for the participants of the moot and the wider Cambridge population. Lawyers and a partner from Rajah & Tann who have flown down from Singapore, as well as participants from 8 universities across the UK will be present.

There will be a short presentation by Rajah & Tann, followed by a Q&A session and opportunities to mingle. This is a great opportunity to learn more about one of Asia’s leading law firms, and build up a strong network.

Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) Mid-Term 2016

The Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) Mid-Term 2016 is now open for application until 31 March 2016. The application cycle is open from 1 January 2016 to 31 March 2016. Visit the link to apply!

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a Singapore citizen pursuing your undergraduate studies in any discipline (excluding Dentistry / Medicine and other healthcare-related disciplines) at an overseas university. You must have completed at least 1 academic semester and have not begun on your final year of study at point of application, have good co-curricular activities record and leadership achievements, and a desire to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors.

Award value and bond period:
If you have 1 to 2 academic years remaining in university at point of application, the award is a S$40,000 grant and a 2-year bond with the sponsoring organisation. If you have more than 2 academic years remaining in university at point of application, the award is a S$60,000 grant and a 3-year bond with the sponsoring organisation.

GIC Networking Event and Dinner

Description
GIC is holding an intimate networking event with Group President Mr Lim Siong Guan. He is enthusiastic to meet Singaporeans in the UK who want to, or are considering a return home to Singapore. This is a rare opportunity to meet with Mr Lim, whose repertoire of experiences has bestowed upon him many great stories to tell. Representatives from each of GIC’s business areas will also be in attendance to contribute to the conversation. The event is open to all members of CUMSA, from undergraduates and graduates to mid careers and seasoned professionals. However, spaces are very limited, so slots will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis through the form at the bottom of this page.

A short biography on Mr Lim Siong Guan
Mr Lim joined GIC in 2007. He was Chairman of the Economic Development Board from October 2006 to June 2009. A former head of the Singapore Civil Service, he was Permanent Secretary in the ministries of Defence, Education and Finance and the Prime Minister’s Office, and led various major government agencies. He has been an adjunct professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore since March 2005, instructing on leadership and change management in the public sector, and is a Senior Fellow of the Civil Service College.

Oxbridge Alumni Society Freshers’ Event/AGM

Description
This year, the Singapore Oxbridge Alumni Society is combining its AGM and meet-up with Oxbridge Freshers. This will give freshers a chance to meet many accomplished alumni from Oxford and Cambridge and mingle over good food and wine (all for free!).

Dinner and Drinks from 7 pm; AGM from 8:30 pm (Freshers are welcome to stay and observe the AGM, which is expected to take only 30 minutes)
