[Events] 2. Oxbridge Games

Oxbridge Games will be taking place at Oxford on 12 November 2016. While the details have yet to be finalised by Oxford, the rough schedule will be as follows: 12-2pm Lunch/Mingle, 2-4pm Sports & Games, and Dinner after that. The rules and exact schedule will be circulated soon, so do look out for that.

For everyone who has signed up for Oxbridge Games, you should have been added to a private Facebook chat for your chosen game/sport. If you have not been added to any group even though if you have signed up on the Google Form, please inform Christiane or Yibin as soon as possible. Also, please note that transport is NOT provided so do book your own bus/train tickets there! Once you have booked your tickets, please enter your travel details at the link below: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17DBF5m2tEUGOi-TeBTPN5iUSL5djVrw8fSklIBjhVyU/edit#gid=0. This will help to ensure that everyone has transport there.

Furthermore, the OUMSA secretary should have sent an email this morning regarding your accommodation at Oxford if requested; if you do not have ANY accommodation arranged, please contact Christiane as soon as possible so that we can match you up with a host.

Lastly, we are still in need of players for OVERWATCH. There may also be FIFA on the day as well. If you are interested in playing, please do get in touch with Christiane as well!

P.S. For those who have already signed up but CANNOT make it to the games, please inform either Christiane or Yibin with a valid reason and please try your best to find a substitute! Both committees have worked hard to make this event possible and it would be unfair, especially to the Oxford side, to drop out at the last minute. Thank you!

[Events] 3. CUMSA Ski Trip

For everyone who is going this year, you should have been added to the CUMSA Ski Trip 2016 group. If you have not, please get in contact with Christiane (or just request to join the group). In summary, please pay the full amount of the trip, enter your flight details in the spreadsheet, and get travel insurance. Details on accommodation will come out some time in the next few weeks. Please direct any questions to Chia Wei, Hui Min or Christiane.

[Events] 1. Oxbridge Games

Get hyped because Oxbridge Games are coming up very soon!!! This year, we will be heading to Oxford on 12th November, Saturday, for some fun and games (and to win the title back! :)). We are aiming to deliver the CUMSA shirts before then so that everyone can wear it that weekend!

Unfortunately, despite the high demand for Badminton, it had to be dropped due to logistical issues. The final list of confirmed sports/games are: 5v5 Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Captain’s Ball, Table Tennis, Poker, Mahjong, Chess and Overwatch. The games will be from 12pm to evening, and will be followed by dinner at a Chinese restaurant. The dinner and stayover at Oxford are completely optional, but highly recommended! Dinner will be subsidised by CUMSA. Please sign up here: https://goo.gl/forms/Dcf5oEtGQk5uwEKI2 by 23rd October, Sunday, 11.59pm.

For transport to/fro Oxford, we will be gauging the numbers as the sign ups come in; if there are sufficient players, we may hire a coach :) If not, everyone will need to book their own return tickets on the X5. We will update you about transport arrangements after the sign up deadline.

If you have any questions about the games, do get in touch with Christiane via Facebook, or drop her an email at sports@cumsa.org.

[Events] 2. CUMSA Ski Trip

All technical equipment (skis, ski boots, poles, snowboards) will be provided but you will need to find your own personal equipment (e.g. ski jacket). You can probably borrow from seniors who have gone on the ski trip before (seniors, feel free to advertise on the ski trip page) or buy them online or from Sportsdirect at low prices :)

The deadline for signing up on Action Outdoors’ website is 30th October, Sunday, 11.59pm. As of 19/10/16, there are only 5 SPACES LEFT. Do sign up soon!!!

For those who have signed up, please enter your travel plans at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18mxEJ0mSFqvQi0of57VcbkNkTxwR3vCyC3E92pvXeUw/edit#gid=0 for easier coordination :) Also, do remember to indicate that you are going on the events page! The Careers@Singapore fair will be held in London on 20 October 2016 (Thursday) from 6.30pm – 10.00pm. It will be a great opportunity to meet Singapore-based employers face-to-face, and get to know more about them. Please refer to the following link for the event details: https://www.contactsingapore.sg/careerssg/uk/oct2016/edm?utm_source=Careers_SG&utm_medium=edm&utm_campaign=oct_2016. Registration closes on Wednesday, 12th October.

All Singaporean attendees will be able to receive a subsidy for their train tickets. If you are attending the event and would like a subsidy, do contact Darrel either through Facebook or at cumsa.sponsorship@gmail.com.

[Opportunities] 2. Accenture Singapore in London 2016

You will have the chance to learn more about Accenture, and get tips on how to ace the recruitment process from their recruiters. The deadline for interview sign ups is this Friday, 12th October 2016.

For more information, please refer to the attached EDM.

[Events] 3. CUMSA Causeway

Causeway 2016 has been published and an online version has been released at the following link: http://cumsa.org/2016/07/causeway-2016/. Click the embedded magazine to view it in full-screen splendour!

[Events] 4. CUMSA T-Shirt

We have been receiving a pretty good response to the CUMSA T-Shirt orders and we are happy to announce that the price will tentatively be reduced to £7 per T-Shirt due to bulk order discounts.

As orders are slowing down and so as give us/you more time to settle payment matters, orders will be closed by this Sunday, 16th of October 2016. Another announcement will be made when payment details are sent to your Hermes email.

The form to order is here: http://cumsa.org/2016/10/cumsa-shirts/.

Please send your size amendments or cancellations to jes214@cam.ac.uk before the closing of orders, otherwise your order will be deemed to be final. We regret to inform you that we cannot take any cancellations/non-payments after the final order has been placed with the shop as that would result in slightly increased prices for everyone and generally an administrative nightmare.

[Events] 5. Nottingham Winter Games

Nottingham Winter Games are back again! Nottingham Winter Games (NWG) is an annual event that welcomes Singaporean students from universities all over UK to gather for a day of fun, laughter and friendly competition. There will be options for tours of Nottingham and even a weekend stayover! This will be a great way to meet Singaporeans studying in other universities.

Date: 5th November 2016, Saturday

Time: 8am-6pm

Please take note that the prices for entering events are as follows:
