As stated in earlier updates, this year's ball will feature 3 casino tables for you to try your hand at some popular casino games! Do not worry, though, for the games will NOT be using real money; instead we will be providing you with some plastic chips for placing bets so there will be no risks and no losses involved. CUMSA Elections 2010 - Call for Manifestos! PDF Print E-mail
Written by CUMSA Webmaster

Dear members,

The time has come for a new batch of keen Singaporeans and Malaysians to assume positions on the CUMSA Committee!

If you are already keen on running at the upcoming elections, I would like to remind you of the submission deadline of manifestos. If you are still sitting on the fence, however, I appeal to you to give a shot at the elections.

CUMSA has had a long history and many notable figures have once helmed this association. Apart from being something you can put in your CV, the experience you will gain working on the committee will be one that is enriching, memorable and fun!

For most of the freshers out there, I am positive that CUMSA has played a significant role in helping you assimilate into the Cambridge life. You can most certainly take this opportunity to contribute back to the association by becoming part of the next committee that leads it!

The AGM has been scheduled for the afternoon of *_21st February 2010_*, Sunday, and the venue will be confirmed in due time. All those who are keen on running for a position on the CUMSA committee, please bear in mind the following details. Prepare a manifesto of yourself and submit it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by *_1st February 2010_*, Monday latest.Your manifesto must have the following basic information:

1. Name
2. College
3. Course
4. Position running for
5. Name and college of your Proposer and Seconder respectively

Your manifesto should also ideally include your reasons for running, your aims and plans for the association, or any other information you think relevant. Please note that there is no rigid format or structure required in your manifesto; you are free to promote yourself in any way you see fit. The positions that are open for elections are:

1. President
2. Secretary
3. Junior treasurer
4. Publicity secretary
5. Sports secretary
6. Events officer
7. Database officer
8. Logistics officer
9. Welfare officer

For more information on each position, feel free to contact the current committee (emails found here) - we are most happy to answer your queries. You can also look at the previous elections' manifestos here. Please bear in mind also that on top of your manifesto, you will have to prepare to make a speech and answer questions from the floor on the AGM day itself. Don't forget the deadline for manifestos - **1st February 2010**!

Get keen and best of luck,
Justin Lee
CUMSA President '09/10
